奥巴马款待杜鲁多的国宴

加拿大官员享受美国国宴始于1927年，当时的加拿大总督受美国总统柯立芝的宴请，以后每隔十年左右举行一次。
杜鲁多的前任哈珀没有享受到美国国宴，上一次美国总统以国宴招待加拿大总理是在1997年，当时的主角是克林顿和克里田。
这次国宴相隔了19年，有点不同寻常。因为共和党布什总统任内对应的是加拿大自由党政府，民主党人奥巴马任期的大部分时间对应的是加拿大保守党，都不是很合拍。（当然了，在2004年，共和党布什总统访问渥太华时享受过民主党马丁总理的国宴，但记住了这是在加拿大首都，而非美国首都）
今晚将有200位客人，奥巴马夫人蜜雪儿的办公室公布了200份菜谱，其中有阿拉斯加大比目鱼砂锅和加拿大威士忌烧育空土豆等，歌手莎拉·芭瑞黎丝将现场演唱。
白宫的宴会厅今晚以白色和绿色为主色调，因为绿色是杜鲁多夫人苏菲·格雷戈瓦（Sophie Gregoire）喜欢的颜色。白宫首席花艺设计师Hedieh Ghaffarian形容今晚的白宫就像是“春天的花园，百花绽放”。
招待杜鲁多的国宴是奥巴马两期总统任内主持的第十次国宴，也会是他最后的几次国宴之一，他的任期仅剩下10个月。
